The spa A former cloisters with original vaulted ceilings and soft stone walls set within a beautiful 17th-century monastery-turned-luxury hotel on the Amalfi Coast. more images below The spa’s thermal suite, complete with tepidarium, hydro pool and aromatic steam room, is truly special. Local ingredients are used in many of the treatments, from the pasti de mandorle (that’s almond paste to you) in the manicures and pedicures, to the bitter orange and iris powders blended into the massage oils. Spa Spy’s symptoms Interrupted nights and the resultant exhausted days were making Spy a very dull girl. Their Candle Massage (160 euros for 80 mins), a three-stage signature treatment, is recommended for sleep problems, promising to improve the body’s biorhythms. Spy was allocated the spa suite, a grandiose spa-within-a-spa that accommodates up to four and has its own terrace overlooking the sea. An acupressure massage kicked things off, releasing tension around the face and sinuses. Then it was on to the wet-treatment couch for an iris powder scrub, followed by an icy Vichy shower, fully supine, which was not for the faint-hearted (but was, I gather, for those of us who wish to be cellulite free).
